Theme Installation

There are two ways to install Proxima WordPress theme:

WordPress Dashboard:

Step 1. Go to Appearance > Themes > Add new > Upload Theme.

Step 2. Click Choose File and then select the zipped theme proxima.zip.

Step 3. Click Install Now to install the theme.

Ftp Upload:

Step 1. Unzip the proxima.zip to a folder named proxima.

Step 2. Upload this folder to /wp-content/themes/ on your server.

Step 3. Go to Appearance > Themes, activate the uploaded theme.

Plugin Installation

Once installed the theme successfully you will see a notification window on the top of the WordPress panel, click Begin installing plugins to install these plugins:

Contact-Form7- This plugin is free. Please active it if you need to use forms on your website page. High Recommendation!

Proxima Core- Our core theme features, important.

Proxima Visual Composer- Proxima runs a tailored version of Visual Composer with extra advanced elements and templates.

LayerSlider WP- This is a premium slider plugin.

Slider Revolution- This is another premium slider plugin.

After all plugin installed please don’t forget to active them, important!

Demo Importer

The demo importer will import all the page content, option panel setting, color, font size and so on.

Import Demo:

Step 1. There is a section named Proxima Options on the left hand of the WordPress admin panel, click it.

Step 2. Now, you will see Proxima theme option panel, there is a Demo importer section on the left hand of the panel, click it.

Step 3. Choose the related demo and click import.

Please note, the demo importer will merge your current contents with the demo contents, we recommend to use this feature on a fresh website, or you can backup your site with the related WordPress tool.

Assigning Homepage

Generally, our system will setup home page automatically, in some situation, you need to change the demo page to homepage manually.

Step 1. Go to Setting > Reading.

Step 2. Change the option to static page.

Step 3. Choose the related page as a front page.

Now, all the initialization has been finished, your demo site is ready to use, what you need to do is to replace the demo contents with yours.

Child Theme

A child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality and styling of another theme, called the parent theme. Child themes are the recommended way of modifying an existing theme.

Why use a Child Theme?

There are a few reasons why you would want to use a child theme:

  • If you modify a theme directly and it is updated, then your modifications may be lost. By using a child theme you will ensure that your modifications are preserved.
  • Using a child theme can speed up development time.
  • Using a child theme is a great way to learn about WordPress theme development.

How to use a Child Theme?

The way to install a child theme is the same with the primary theme:

Step 1. Go to Appearance > Themes > Add new > Upload Theme.

Step 2. Click Choose File and then select the zipped theme proxima-child.zip.

Step 3. Click Install Now to install the child theme.

Please note, if you have no CSS or PHP code knowledge please do not modify the primary theme directly, try to use child theme.

Theme Update

Step 1. Go to your FTP server, delete the whole proxima folder in /wp-content/themes

Step 2. Download the latest theme from ThemeForest.

Step 3. Unzip the proxima.zip to a folder named proxima.

Step 4. Upload this folder to /wp-content/themes/ on your server.

Step 5. Go to Appearance > Themes and Activate the updated theme.

Introduction

Option Panel is the core of proxima, it gives you full control of your website, you can change font size, color, header layout that everything you can imagine.

Option Panel control the global setting of the website, if there is no special page setting, system will use the global setting.

Option Panel – General

  • Grid width: Control the body content width from 960px to 1920px.
  • Favicon upload: Display an icon on browser’s address bar, we recommend a 16x16 pixels png, gif or ico.
  • Back to Top: Display a block which will help you to scroll back to the top in seconds.
  • Background Image: Display a global body background image.
  • Background Image Type: Change the image type to cover or just keep it to normal.
  • Background Image Position: There are 9 align styles to choose, if the image is bigger than the view window, there will be no align effect.
  • Background Image Repeat: Choose if you want to repeat the BG image.
  • Preload Style: To display a loading icon until the page loads completely.
  • Page Transitions: To display a page transitions until the page loads completely.
  • Transitions Direction: There are 8 directions to choose.
  • Text Input Effects: It will change the comment style in post.
  • Google Analytics: Your can insert your Google Analytics code here.
  • Normal logo: It will display on primary head menu.
  • Retina logo: It will display on Retina equipment.
  • Sticky logo: It will display on sticky menu. If it is empty, system will use the normal logo.
  • Text logo: The above logos will not display if text logo is filled.
  • Logo padding: The padding on menu.

Option Panel – Header Menu Layout

  • Style: There are totally 22 different header menu styles, choose any of the menu styles

    ( Normal, Separate, Float, Float Separate, Normal Transparent, Normal Right, Separate Right, Normal Right Transparent, Centre, Centre Transparent, Centre Stack, Centre Stack Transparent, Float Bottom, Slider Below, Slider Below Right, Slider Below Centre, Float Bottom Separate, Simple Left Menu, Simple Right Menu, Simple Full Screen Menu, Left, Right)

  • Header Width: You can switch your menu between full width and grid.
  • Show Menu Cart: Please note, some of the menu styles don't support WooCommerce cart.
  • Transparency: Change the whole head menu transparency, the default value is 100.
  • Search icon: To display an icon on the right of the head menu.
  • Mega Menu Background: You can set up 3 background images to each mega menu, to use it just enter the megamenuA or megamenuB into the menu class input field

Option Panel – Sub Head Menu

  • Height: The total height of submenu.
  • Width: The total width of submenu.
  • Padding: The content padding of the submenu.
  • Transparency: The default transparency is 100.
  • Normal logo: It will display on primary head menu.
  • Retina logo: It will display on Retina equipment.
  • Sticky logo: It will display on sticky menu. If it is empty, system will use the normal logo.
  • Text logo: The above logos will not display if text logo is filled.
  • Logo padding: The padding on menu.

Option Panel – Slider

  • Slider Size: Switch the slider size between full screen and custom size.
  • Autoplay: Choose if you need to play the home slider automatically.
  • Slider Delay: The global slider delay.
  • Arrows: Choose if you want to display the arrows or not.
  • Bullets: Choose if you want to display the bullets or not.
  • Mobile Visibility: Choose if you want to display the slider on mobile or not.
  • Parallax: Add parallax effect to the whole slider.

Option Panel – Footer

  • Style: There are 9 different styles for footer layout, you can choose any of them

    1/4+1/4+1/4+1/4: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, footer3, footer4, each column width is 25%.

    1/4+1/4+2/4: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, footer3, each column width is 25%, 25%, 50%.

    1/4+2/4+1/4: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, footer3, each column width is 25%, 50%, 25%.

    2/4+1/4+1/4: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, footer3, each column width is 50%, 25%, 25%.

    1/3+1/3+1/3: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, footer3, each column width is 33%, 33%, 33%.

    1/3+2/3: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, each column width is 33%,67%.

    2/3+1/3: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, each column width is 67%, 33%.

    1/2+1/2: It will output all the widgets in footer1, footer2, each column width is 50%, 50%.

    1/1: It will output all the widgets in footer1, each column width is 100%.

  • Padding Top: The main footer content top padding.
  • Padding Bottom: The main footer content bottom padding.
  • Copyright: It will display at the bottom of the footer area.
  • Copyright Align: You can choose the copyright position here.
  • Background Image: Add a footer background image if you want.
  • Background Image Position: There are 9 align styles to choose, if the image is bigger than the view window, there will be no align effect.
  • Background Image Repeat: Choose if you want to repeat the BG image or not.

Option Panel – Color

The color scheme control the whole colors of the website, you can have several color schemes and switch theme with easy. In addition, you can export your schemes and make them as a backup file. There are totally 8 color groups in the color scheme:

  • Header Area Color
  • Mega Menu Area
  • Slider Area Color
  • Body Area Color
  • Blog Area Color
  • Footer Area Color
  • WooCommerce Color
  • Other Color

Option Panel – Font

As the name impliesAll, you can change the font style here, please note, the coporment fonts are defined in page builder .

  • Global Font: Body, h2, h3, h4, H4, H5, H6, Footer.
  • Head Area Font: Head Menu, Sub Head Menu, Secondary Mega Menu, Thirdly Mega Menu, Search Bar Font, Slider Title Font, Slider Subtitle Font, Slider Description Font, Slider Button Font, Text Logo Font

Option Panel – Social

  • Style: Normal, left to right, right to left, Scroll Up, scroll down, border, rotate.
  • Supported social:Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Flickr, Google +

Option Panel – Blog

  • Blog Grid width: Control the blog content width from 960px to 1920px.
  • Post Number Per Page: Choose how many posts you want to display on each page.
  • Post Padding: The post content padding. The default value is 5PX.
  • Related Posts: Choose if you need the related post section or not.
  • Author: Choose if you need the author or not.
  • Date: Choose if you need the date or not.
  • Comments: Choose if you need the comments or not.
  • Tags: Choose if you need the tags or not.
  • Siderbar: Choose if you need the siderbar or not.

Option Panel – Woocommerce

  • Siderbar: Choose if you need the siderbar or not.
  • Products Column: Choose 3, 4 or 6 columns to display the products.
  • Add to cart menu: Choose if you need the cart or not.

Option Panel – 404 Page

The 404 is a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) standard response code, in computer network communications, to indicate that the client was able to communicate with a given server, but the server could not find what was requested.

  • Title: The title of 404 page.
  • Subtitle: The subtitle of 404 page.
  • Content Text: You can enter some 404 content, warning or notification which will let user know the page he requested is not available.

Option Panel – Import/ Export

This feature is useful for the customization of option panel, when you relocating or upgrading website, you can export the option panel setting and then import it instead of restore the settings one by one.

Export:

  • Copy Date: It will output all the option panel setting, you can copy the content into any file for saving.
  • Download Data File: This is the easiest way to export option panel setting, once you click the download button it will generate a JSON format file.
  • Copy Export URL: It will generate a link which you can import on another webiste.

Import:

  • Import from file: if you choose the secondly export option Download Data File, here is the port which can import this exported file, once you click import it will overwrite the existing option panel setting.
  • Import from URL: This associates with Copy Export URL feature, you can paste the setting URL from another website and click import, that’s it!
